Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th in 1967. She is the fourth Roberts generation living in Atlanta starting with her great-grandfather who was a farmer John Pendleton Roberts. At an early age his father became obsessed with theatre. He performed on at the Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions that were staged around Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force and while stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a play with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in the year 1955. Their first baby son Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter was enrolled in Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957, the couple quit the Air Force and Walter began studying at Tulane University. In 1960, the family relocated into Decatur Georgia where Walter began working at Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter along with Betty Lou began producing a children's television program in Decatur, Georgia called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show their own. In the following year, they established The Actors and Writers Workshop which ran for a period of six years. They welcomed in 1965 two children to the family: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
