Ariana Grande-Butera,/,a.ri'a.n@ 'gra?ndeI/ ARIEAH-n@ GRAHN, day; [note 1born on 26 June 1993) is an American performer, songwriter, and actress. Her vocal range of four notes and distinctive use of whistle registers are praised by both the both critics and the media. Grande has been awarded many awards throughout her career. They include two Grammy Awards. One Brit Award. Two Billboard Music Awards. Three American Music Awards. Nine MTV Video Music Awards. Thirty Guinness World Records.
Grande began her musical journey when she was just 15 years old. She was in the Broadway musical 13 (2008 Broadway). She gained fame being the character Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon television show Victorious (2010-2013) and Sam & Cat (2013-2014). After watching YouTube videos of Grande singing covers, Republic Records signed Grande in 2011. The US Billboard 200 topped Grande's 1950s R&B-influenced pop and R&B debut album, [2 Yours Truly (2013). The single "The Way" has risen to the top ten in the US Billboard Hot 100. Grande's vocals and whistles on the album immediately drew comparisons to Mariah Carey.
The third and second album, My Everything (2014) & Dangerous Woman (2016), continued her exploration into pop and R&B. My Everything was an experiment in EDM. Its hits "Problem", Break Free, and "Bang Bang" were a global hit. Dangerous Woman was her first number-one album in the UK. Sweetener (2018), and Thank U, Next (2019) was her fourth and fifth studio albums respectively, featuring trap music. Both albums were commercial and critically appreciated. Sweetener was awarded the Grammy Award as Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U, Next was nominated as an Album of the Year, and set the record in streaming for the largest pop album. The singles "Thank U, Next", "7 Rings", and "Break up with Your Girlfriend I'm Bored" have made Grande the first solo artist to hold the top three spots on the Hot 100 simultaneously and the first female to be able to compete in the top spot of the UK Singles Chart. Her collaborations for 2020 "Stuck with U" with Justin Bieber and "Rain on Me" together with Lady Gaga helped her break the record for most number-one songs to debut on the Hot 100, the latter being awarded the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Grande added trap to her sixth studio album Positions (2020), where the title track and the album's first single debuted at top spot in the UK. Grande worked with The Weeknd to remix "Save Your Tears" and became her sixth US top-ranked single.
